There is nothing better than being at mom's house. The last couple of days have been spent cozying up in bundles and bundles of knits, lounging around, eating, baking, watch movies and eating some more.

Today the dude and I will be headed to Santa Barbara's State Street for some last minute buys and lunch.

Happy Christmas Eve from my family to yours!

One Year Anniversary!

                                                                                            Source: moth-design.blogspot.com
I've been so caught up in work, interviews, and the bustle of holiday festivities that I totally forgot a very special anniversary...Lady In Plum's one year celebration! (which actually occurred 2 days ago on the 18th)

Can you believe it? It has been one solid year since LIP's very first blog post. I recall being extremely hesitant about making the blog public. I was scared of criticism, worried about what others would think, thought: "As a therapist, this would be completely unprofessional", and worried that I might not have the stamina to keep it going. Well, here we are, one year later...and posts are still going up pretty regularly. Albeit, not as frequently; I shall work on that...

To my delight, all my worries have been debunked. I have to say, that putting myself and my thoughts out into the blogosphere has brought about nothing but more love and a larger sense of community into my life. I have met some wonderful people through this platform, and I am so grateful for all the continued support. Cheers to LIP's 1st year, and cheers to many, many more!

PS. Plenty of you are requesting more snapshots of outfits and other day-to-day-types of posts...I will do my best to do so bc they are so much fun, but it can be difficult to find time when Karl is available to snap some shots. But, we shall try! Otherwise, you can catch outfits on my instagram: @sheelo

Have a wonderful day and good luck on those last minute shopping trips! Xoxo

Happy Weekend to Ya

                        Image via: 1
It's been quite a busy week. Thank goodness the weekend is here! I have every intention of getting one last minute gift for a special someone. Then, besides attending a fun therapy workshop with friends, I shall enjoy doing nearly nothing at all. Don't you love it when your agenda is clear? Cheers to holiday cookies and the hustle and bustle of last minute errands.

I have a job interview today, wish me luck! I am looking for a therapy position that would be a great addition to my budding private practice. I just pray that I find a position that I am able to thrive in and serve others to the best of my abilities. Good luck to everyone out there who is also searching!

Wedding Series: Perhaps St. Lucia?...

Top of Tuesday morning to ya! Amidst wrapping presents and humming holiday songs, my mind seems to always wander to wedding details. Lately, Karl and I have been bickering deciding on where to go for our Honeymoon. Yes, yes, I am sure you are all wondering why we are planning so far in advance. After all, the wedding isn't til next September. But the truth is, traveling is expensive! So, we figured, the sooner we know where we wanna go, the easier it will be to smooth out all the plans, buy airfare and book accommodations well in advance so we can assure ourselves a great rate on our trip.
We both agree that we want to spend our honeymoon somewhere warm. Karl wanted to go the quick and easy route and just head to Maui. Now, we have both been to Hawaii many times, yet neither of us have been to Maui. I have heard that Maui is beautiful, and much different than the other islands, but honestly, I want to spend my honeymoon somewhere I have never been before, even if it takes a full travel day to get there. <---And this is where Karl disagrees. He much rather spend less time in the air (He kinda doesn't like planes. Poor Karl).
Recently, I came across resorts in St. Lucia, and gosh, It seems so beautiful there! For those of you who don't know, St. Lucia is an island in the Caribbean. Staying at the Viceroy Sugar Beach Resort is probably going to be where we will end up! Yay, I was able to convince Karl!  Now we just need search for deals on airfare and what not. Any suggestions?

Happy Thursday! Tis the Season to give. Nothing feels better than finding or making the perfect gift for that special person in your life. Above are some great finds that are sure to please, yet won't break your budget. I think I shall do all my holiday shopping today, because if I wait any longer there will be nothing left on the shelves! Have yourself a Merry Thursday!

P.S. Pray for me as I continue my job hunt for the perfect part-time therapy position at a local agency. Ideally, I would love to continue building my practice while also working for a non-profit. Later today I will be nestled up at a coffee shop sipping chai tea while filling out job applications after knocking out my holiday shopping. *Fingers crossed*

December To-Do's

December To Do's

Doesn't driving at night get way better during this time of year? You can't tell me that seeing all those twinkly lights doesn't lift your spirits. Anyhow, these are a few things that I intend on accomplishing this month...

1) Stick to a strict Xmas shopping budget. Like, for reals. Oh, and attempt to shop at small businesses.

2) Create Xmas cards on Shutterfly.com, and actually mail them on time.

3) Learn how to bake a pie or cake from scratch.

4) Clean out my closets and donate as much as possible. Tis the season to give!

5) Become a regular yoga student. I recently started volunteering at a yoga studio, yay for free unlimited classes!

6) Finally make an appointment at DryBar. I wanna see what all the hype is about.

7) Finish reading at least 2 books on my kindle.

8) Find the perfect red lipstick.

What are some things you are looking forward to this month?

Peach Cobbler + Gratitude

                                                                                                      Source: inbetweenlaundry.blogspot.com

Happy Thanksgiving, Plummies! My family does not get into town until this weekend, so Karl, Benny and myself are going to have dinner with some friends up in Northern San Diego. Dinner will be potluck style and I have opted to make a delicious peach cobbler which I stumbled upon while watching Laura Vitale's Youtube channel (see video below). I made it last night, and I must say, I am rather impressed with how easy it was. However, the next time I attempt this recipe I would definitely add a bit more sugar and use fresh rather than canned peaches.

As many of you know, this year has been pretty significant for me, and my life has changed quite a bit, all of which I am so grateful for. In the spirit of Thanksgiving...

I am grateful for:

-Getting engaged to my best friend, biggest cheerleader, and role model.
-Gaining new friendships and cherishing old ones.
-Obtaining my Master's Degree
-Being able to travel to Spain
-Working in an industry that I allows me to connect with so many courageous individuals.
-My family's love and support

What are you most grateful for?

Black Friday Wishlist

Black Friday Wishlist

Slim ankle pants / Coach cross body handbag / Clarisonic beauty product / Canon Ef 85mm F/1.8 Usm Medium Telephoto Lens For Canon Slr Cameras / Mercer Street Holly

Top of this Tuesday to you! This morning I woke to the bright sun gleaming through my window, yet I threw off my covers and was met with a brisk chill. I actually had to put on my thick bathrobe to feel warm enough to wander into the kitchen to make breakfast. That San Diego sunshine sure is tricky.

It seems as though Fall came overnight. One weekend we are enjoying 80 degree weather at the beach, and the next we are grabbing bathrobes in an effort to keep warm.

Chilly air gets me pumped for the holiday season. Thanksgiving is a mere 10 days away; Meaning the biggest shopping day of the year is only 11 days away. So, what do I do to prepare? Make a list, of course! Cheers to thrifty shopping!

Wedding Series: Engagement Ring Holder

Engagement Ring Holders

urban outfitters / Giraffe ring / Metal jewelry / Asos Stag Jewelry Holder & Ring Dish / Loading Dachshund Ring Holder / Asos Sausage Dog Ring Holder

It's the little things in life that make me happy. Since Karl and I got engaged this past June (Whoa, it's already been almost 6 months!), I've kinda been a tad preoccupied with wedding stuff. I must say, I am so glad Pinterest is around, because I can't even imagine planning a wedding without it. How did you girls get inspiration prior to Pinterest? Well, I suppose there were still bridal magazines, blogs, and bridal expos...

Moving on...I do not sleep with my ring on because the prongs seem to scratch my face when I am not too careful. So, I've been meaning to get a ring holder or ring dish to set on my night stand. I am particularly in love with the little doggie and the deer.

These would be great gift ideas for your newly engaged girlfriends, don't ya think?

Have a blessed Tuesday and don't forget to go out there and cast your vote, People! Xo

Happy Monday morning, Plummies. This past weekend I escaped my sunny San Diego, for even sunnier Los Angeles. My friends Karla and Rick drove down from our hometown of Hollister, CA to spend the weekend with us.

It turned out to be a micro reunion, and goodness did I need it. I didn't realize just how much I missed them until I caught myself laughing so hard I nearly spit up my chai latte.

It's intriguing that no matter how much time lapses in-between our visits, getting together feels like we are back in high school (in a good way), and the inside jokes, high school and college reminiscing, and current updates seem to be just what my heart needs.

Cheers to ancient friendships and delicious food!

Autumn Essentials

Autumn Essentials

 featuring revlon lipstick

Hello Plummies! It's actually beginning to feel kinda like Fall here in San Diego. Not because it's been getting cooler, but because it's been getting darker a lot sooner. I hope it gets a bit more chilly so I can make use of the boots I have stowed away.

Above are some fun things that I have been gravitating towards recently. Oh, FYI: Did you know that Bath & Body Works is having a huge candle sale? Their small candles are only $5 each and large ones are 2 for $20. My absolute favorite scent is "Leaves". It makes my whole house feel so cozy and festive.

Just a side note, I have been weaning myself off of coffee lately because I noticed that I had been practically dependent on it; like, headaches if I don't have it! (Yea, that bad) So, I have been substituting my morning cup of joe for chai tea lattes instead. I find the Tazo brand to be rather delicious.

Ok, that's all for now. Take care! PS. sorry for my absence lately, work has been rather demanding. I hope you understand. Xo

Happy Tuesday Morning, Plummies! This morning I woke up, made a smoothie, cleaned up the house, walked Benny, then hit the gym for a "Bodypump" class, all BEFORE 10am! Geez, what a great start, huh? *patting myself on the back*

I am starting this new regimen of going to bed at 10 pm sharp every night, and trying to get at least 8 hours of sleep because lately, my work days have been extremely long. Also, I might be starting a new job soon, so I know I will be needing all the rest I can get. (I have an interview today, so wish me luck!)

Above I have put together a neat little outfit collage inspired by San Diego's warm and sunny weather! It's pretty awesome that all you need is one statement piece that easily transitions from daytime to night time, with the right wardrobe pieces. Thoughts?

Wedding Series: The Engagement Shoot

Engagement Photoshoot

white dressesJ.Crew shift dress / Dorothy Perkins white dress / Mini dress

Location, Location, Location...

Happy Monday, Plummies! Yup, here is another installment of "Wedding Series". Today we are focusing on the engagement photo shoot...something that you can always look back on over the years and then share with generations to come.

I would like to share with you some ideas I have about attire and location of the shoot. Remember, your entire wedding, and everything leading up to it should embrace your unique style and personality as a couple.

While reading wedding blogs and learning about photography, I have come to understand that keeping your attire casual, comfortable, and neutral is perhaps the best way to remain relaxed and YOURSELF during your photo shoot. The last thing you want to be worried about is tugging your itty-bitty skirt down the entire time, sucking your tummy in, or adjusting your neckline. Also, make sure you scout out an environment that is special for you and your soon-to-be. Perhaps it is your favorite camping spot, the place you shared a first kiss, or the library that you met.

Attire Tip: solid colors and large prints photograph best. Tiny prints and crazy patterns may overwhelm the photograph and take away from the subjects (you and your sweetie).

If you are still very confused on what to wear, and where to shoot, just ask your photographer. If he or she is a local photog, she will most-likely have great ideas on which location best fit your personality and style. After all, thats part of why we pay them the big bucks!

Just remember to be yourself, dress comfortably, and have FUN!

Autumn is finally here! Well, in San Diego, it still feels very much like Summer... which makes me very happy. But regardless, Autumn has come, which means: I get to dust off all my fun scarves and boots, and eat pumpkin flavored everything (lattes! bread! tea! pie! cookies!)

I am a sucker for lip products, and I am ubber-dubber excited that PLUMMY lips are in this season. How ironic huh? Deep plums and wine shades look great on everyone because the hue complements a range of different skin tones (from Lady Gaga to Michelle Obama) It's sophisticated enough to wear to a work meeting, yet bold enough for a girl's night out.

Would you?
