I have decided that after graduation this May, I will celebrate by going on a trip to gorgeous SPAIN! I have never been before, so I am very excited to explore the country. I keep hearing how mesmerizing all the architecture is, how delicious all the food is, and how stylish all the people are.
If any of you Plummies have ever been, I would love to hear which places I need to visit, beaches I need to lay at, restaurants I need to indulge in, shops I need to spend at, and so forth.
Does anyone else have the travel bug?
I just was in Madrid this past summer. I loved it! Granted I was there as a chaperone for a bunch of high schoolers, but I still had a blast. Anywhere in Plaza Mayor has delicious food. Had a side trip to Segovia- so beautiful. Have fun!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Darling! I will google those places for sure. I want to eat my way through that country, so Plaza Mayor sounds like its has my name written all over it. :)
DeleteGirl I have been there twice. Its my motherland:) You def need to stop by Costa del Sol, mejias, marbella, ronda, and almost everywhere in Malaga. The Alhambra is nice too but its WAY hot there in the summer. Barcelona and Madrid are wonderful as well of course:)
ReplyDeleteThanks girly. I will have to look at a map and see if it is possible to hit up all those places within my 10 days there. How did you get around...Train, bus, shuttle service?
DeleteI've heard from everyone (my twinnie included!) that Barcelona is the place to go to, and skip Madrid. And yes I have the travel bug -- figured it's a permanent thing I'm gonna have to live with ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Nada, Yea...I've heard that about Madrid, Huh...well, we will fly into Madrid, so I am thinking we will stay for a couple days than head elsewhere. Thanks Love.
DeleteUrgh I had my travel itinery for this year planned... NOW I'm definitely going to have to squeeze in Spain!!! :o)
ReplyDeleteYou have a cute blog and a new follower! Keep it up lovely!!!

Sonia, you are so sweet! Thank you so much for your support. I was able to finally get around to visiting your blog...lovely! Such great fashion inspiration. Xo PS. Where are you located? Australia?
DeleteSheilah, I just loved Seville! Katie & I visited Tori there. Tried to get to Madrid & the coast but time did not permit. The Real Alcazar was beautiful (the city Palace),had beautiful gardens, La Giralda, the bell tower at the Cathedral is well worth the 100? or so stairs to the top with its fantastic views. We went to the Mosque in Cordoba, a catholic church, then a mosque, and now a church again. The arches are an unbelievably amazing sight to see! Ill have to ask Tori the name of the sandwhich shop we ate at several times simple & yummy..I think it translates to 100 sandwhiches. Be sure to get the alioli sauce. Yum! I would go back in a heartbeat, I should take Larry there.
ReplyDeleteLuv ya,
Caroline p.s. I'm graduating in May, too!! Will start my credential program in the fall. 3 classes & 3 semesters to go!!
Caroline, Yay that we are almost graduated! Where will you be doing your credential program? Yes, I recall you guys went to Spain not too long ago. I already have a brief idea of where we will be going (Madrid, Seville, Malaga, Barcelona). Thanks for the ideas of what to see and do. I like the idea of visiting churches...I try to make it a point to visit churches and cathedrals in every country that I visit. It is amazing to see the different architecture. I can't wait! xoxo
DeleteHey Sheel, how are you?long time, no talk, blah blah blah. I lived in Granada, Spain for a year. Go to Granada! Haven't been in, jesus, five years, but it's amazing! Great night life, really cool neighborhoods e.g. the Albaicin to wander, there's the Alhambra, and super cheap tapas.
ReplyDeleteGo to Madrid, check out the museums. Go to Barca, check out the Gaudi stuff, and shop. Go to Andalucia (Malaga, Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Cadiz) and eat tapas, check out all the Arab/Moroccan stuff, and chill on the beach. If you get the chance, check out northern Spain -- Bilbao, San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela, as well as some smaller places like Segovia and Ronda.
Make sure you order cafe con leche, churros con chocolate, tinto de verano (red wine + lemon Fanta, the BEST on a hot day), paella (arroz negra is my favorite, but there are a ton of options), patatas bravas, and of course, tortilla espanola. In Andalucia, you can get a type of cold tomato soup called salmorejo (similar to gazpacho), and it's really, really good.
Travel by bus is cheap and easy. I never took the train there. If you're trying to get from, say, Malaga to Barcelona, it's easier (and usually cheaper) to fly.
If you go to Granada, let me know. I can recommend bars/cafes/etc.
Erin! Hello! Thank you so, so mucho for all the great tips! It sounds like you really got a chance to explore the country during that year you lived there. I will definitely take everything you mentioned into account and will look into flying to Barce from Malaga instead of taking the high-speed train. Ugh, now I really cannot wait for June! PS. What did u do there? School?
DeleteOh my gosh Erin Tinto de verano is the tastiest drink ever besides mimosas :) haha, I drank so many everyday that I was in Malaga. yum!
DeleteYep, studied abroad. The best place to be a twenty-year-old college kid, I tell ya. Tons of school breaks = lots of opportunities to travel! I'm jealous you're going, you will love it! Have fun and take lots of pictures.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I way too excited! I am already imagining myself wanting to live there! Karl thinks I am crazy :0)
DeleteSo are you going to Malaga after all Sheel?! You will love it! It is so amazing, and the coast is just beautiful! So many little towns and the culture, food, and environment is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYup Felicia, I decided to take your advice ;) Thanks, Honey! I am so glad you said something.
