Do Something (for others)

Happy Friday Plummies! Boy, did this week fly by or what?
Remember my list of New Year's Resolutions? One of my goals was to volunteer at least once per month. Above are some pictures of the "New Year, New You" event held by The Illumination Foundation last month. I was asked to set up a kid's craft corner. We made friendship bracelets, drew pictures, and got to chat all-day long. It was so much fun and so rewarding to meet such amazing children and parents.

The Illumination Foundation is an awesome organization that provides wrap-around services such as: free housing, medical services, food and clothing drives, tutoring, mental health care, and resume advice to homeless families in Orange County to help get them back on their feet.

Volunteering comes in many forms. You might want to volunteer doing something you already know you love. i.e, If you like cooking, try helping at a homeless shelter's kitchen. If you like reading, try reading with children or elders at a hospital. If you like animals, help out at a humane society. Whatever your passion, you can potentially channel that energy towards volunteer work. Trust me, you may get as much (if not more) from the experience than those you help.

This month I think I wanna volunteer for a food bank in San Diego...Stay tuned to see what I end up doing!

*Some agencies or organizations might require that you attend a volunteer orientation before you begin. So always call ahead, or read their website to find out the details.

Go ahead, volunteer already! :)
