KONY 2012

Happy Friday, Plummies! By now you've probably heard about Kony 2012 in the news, on Facebook, or on Youtube. But, have you actually taken the short 30 minutes to sit down and watch the entire documentary? If not, perhaps this is the perfect time to do so.
I watched this just yesterday, and I cried because I was saddened to see the devastation that our neighbors in Africa are currently enduring. It was heart-wrenching, and inspiring at the same time. I am pumped to bring peace to those children!
We are here to "change the conversation of our culture"

Plummies, use your voice to better this world. You have more power than you think. Xo

Organize: Yo' Kicks

If only I had a bigger closet (sigh...). The fact of the matter is: I don't. I live in a tiny bungalow right near the beach, so in order for me to afford a place with a decent closet, I need to be: a) outta school, and b) basically a millionaire. Now, I am not complaining by any means, I am grateful for my little space, it's just that I don't see "b" happening anytime soon, so I have to be creative about maximizing what little space I do have.

My shoes used to be in a jumbled up pile on the floor of this very closet; much like my belts. I was tired of rummaging through the heap to find a matching pair, so I drove my butt to The Container Store, and bought myself this amazing invention for only $29.99. This is so much sturdier than those cheapie, over-the-door pocket-style ones, and it holds up to 36 shoes! (but I can strategically fit about 40 on this bad boy.) Shoe problem solved!
If you are not lucky enough to have a Carrie Bradshaw closet, how do you organize your shoes? And, if you are: well, AREN'T YOU LUCKY! ;)

Dare to go Bare?

Happy Wednesday, Plummies! Goodness, I woke up this morning and it was already such a gorgeous day outside. Not a cloud in the sky, and warm weather...San Diego never lets me down.
My mornings usually go something like this:
Wake up around 6:30am, check email in bed, get dressed, make breakfast, do hair and makeup, walk Benny, and I'm out the door to do great things...

Above is a picture of me au natural. Makeup has been part of my Mon-Fri morning routine since about sophomore year in high school. On the weekends I like to do without, or with very little. For me, makeup is a tool that I use to enhance the beauty that is already there, not cover up, or change my appearance (Well, let's be honest here, if I woke up with a major break-out, yes, that little guy will be covered up!) The point is, everyday I am learning to love every part of who I am. Sure, some days pose more of a challenge than others. But in the end, you just gotta embrace and celebrate yourself; yes, "flaws" and all.

Below is the fabulous celebrity makeup artist, Lisa Eldridge. She is great because her makeup-mentality is: do not cover up, but simply enhance what you got. :)

Greatest Gift Idea Ever!

Click above to view my photo book (which cost me less than $30 to create)

Four years ago, my sister and I went on a 19-day trip to Western Europe with a group of friends. During the trip we were able to visit England, France, Italy, Germany, and Holland. One of my favorite memories from the trip was people-watching at a cafe in Paris with my sister after walking around the city all day, then relaxing on the steps of the old opera house as we watched a high school band performance.

I wish that my brother and mom could have experienced it with us. Since they couldn't, I created a photo book of our trip on shutterfly.com and gave it to my mom as a Christmas gift. She loved it, and said that it has been the most meaningful gift I have ever given her. Now, after every huge trip, I make a picture book. Sure, now-a-days, we have digital pics stored in our computers; but I still think there is something so meaningful about sitting on a couch with a photo album in hand.

His, Hers, & Theirs

His', Her's, & Their'sRules are meant to be broken. This is especially true with fashion. Why not pair black with brown? Who says that guys can't wear red pants? Why not wear unisex accessories?  Follow the wisdom of Nike; if it feels right, "Just do it!"

Don't be a conformist, be a reformist. It may take a bit of creativity, effort, and courage, but, at the end of the day, you will rest easy knowing that you stepped out on a limb to walk towards being more
YOU <---which is always a beautiful thing.

Classic Neon

Classic Neon
Do you ever notice being happier when wearing bright colors? I do. Something about putting on a colorful top, or wearing a pop of pink on my lips gets me in a better mood. There has gotta be some clout to that theory right?! Surely there are multiple research articles written by super smart people regarding this very topic...
Anyhow, above is an outfit that I pulled together. I can see myself wearing this to any Spring or Summer special event. Or, throw on some flat sandals and run some errands in style.

Would you ever wear neon?

Workout with yo Lady (in Plum)

To watch, click the screen, or here.
Rise and shine, Plummies! Get that workout gear on and roll out your yoga mats, cuz we are gonna do a quick 30 minute yoga workout to start our Thursday. (If you don't have a mat, a towel will do if placed over a carpeted area.) Even if you have never done yoga before, this routine is pretty intermediate and you will most-likely be just fine. I find that yoga not only helps me stretch every muscle of my body, but gets me to focus on my breathing, balance, and allows me to relax. Just try it out, you totally have the half hour to spare!

Let me know what you think!
