More ZZzzz please!

Rise and shine Plummies! I am hands down, a morning person. Yup, I'm that annoying person who is humming to myself and bright-eyed when the rest of the world is half-asleep and groggy. There is just something so tranquil and sacred about having those few bits of calm before the motor of the world starts revving it's engine.

With that said, I am noticing that I haven't been as chipper these past couple of mornings. I did some intensively deep thinking, and came to a probable hypothesis: too. little. sleep.

With this being my last semester of grad school, I am feeling as though there is suddenly so many things to wrap up and get done. Hence, my days have been longer, and I haven't been consistent about getting my cheeks in bed at a reasonable hour. This lack of sleep has definitely caused me to hit my snooze button way too many times, and to feel lethargic throughout the day.

So, in order to get back to loving my mornings, I will aim to be in bed no later than 11pm and get a solid 8 hours of Zzzz per night. (I am thinking of posting my night time wind-down routine...)

Love is in the Air

Vday 2012

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 67 / 89

Valentine's Day is almost here! Above are some cute pieces to get you in the lovey-dovey mood. I'm just obsessed with the pink clutch, and the silky romper looks like something I can wear in bed all day long. This Valentine's Day weekend I will be going out to a romantic dinner with the bf, and yes, indulge in lots, and lots of chocolate :) ALSO, I will be watching The Vow with my girlfriends.

What are your V-Day plans?

DIY: Pearl Peter Pan Collar

Hi Plummies! Embellished collars are all the rage. Many high-end brands are ummm, let's just say, EXPENSIVE! So, why not save some big bucks and make our own?

What you'll need:
-felt square (buy 2 just in case you mess up)
-faux pearls
-ribbon
-crazy glue
-scissors
-pen

*You can modify this collar to suit your style. Use a different color, use buttons or rhinestones, scallop the collar edges, etc...
Good luck and send me a pic of your DIY collar!

Casual Navy

sunnies, belt, blouse, heels, bracelet: thrifted
jeans: Forever21
necklace: Francesca's

Happy Monday, Plummies! I hope your weekend was good to you. It's a gorgeous day here in sunny San Diego. Seriously, how is it this warm in the middle of Winter?

Well, after some homework I'm gonna treat myself to a new book and a nice glass of wine. I've found that it's important to intentionally make "me-time", otherwise I may get caught up in my to-do's and caring for everyone else but me. Perhaps today you can treat yourself in your own special way too!
How do you take care for yourself?

Do Something (for others)

Happy Friday Plummies! Boy, did this week fly by or what?
Remember my list of New Year's Resolutions? One of my goals was to volunteer at least once per month. Above are some pictures of the "New Year, New You" event held by The Illumination Foundation last month. I was asked to set up a kid's craft corner. We made friendship bracelets, drew pictures, and got to chat all-day long. It was so much fun and so rewarding to meet such amazing children and parents.

The Illumination Foundation is an awesome organization that provides wrap-around services such as: free housing, medical services, food and clothing drives, tutoring, mental health care, and resume advice to homeless families in Orange County to help get them back on their feet.

Volunteering comes in many forms. You might want to volunteer doing something you already know you love. i.e, If you like cooking, try helping at a homeless shelter's kitchen. If you like reading, try reading with children or elders at a hospital. If you like animals, help out at a humane society. Whatever your passion, you can potentially channel that energy towards volunteer work. Trust me, you may get as much (if not more) from the experience than those you help.

This month I think I wanna volunteer for a food bank in San Diego...Stay tuned to see what I end up doing!

*Some agencies or organizations might require that you attend a volunteer orientation before you begin. So always call ahead, or read their website to find out the details.

Go ahead, volunteer already! :)

Bright Bags for Spring

Bright Bags for Spring

I hope your Thursday is off to a great start! Above is a little collage I created. Can you tell I'm a bit excited for Spring?

I'm someone who uses the same bag over and over...Probably because I am just too lazy to transfer all the content from one bag to the next. Lately, I've been thinking it's time for a bright change to get me in the Spring-time mood; So, I am on the market for a new tote bag for school, and perhaps a new clutch or shoulder bag for the weekends.

Many of the above bags are pretty affordable, but you know me, I like things CHEAP...So, I will attempt to find similar bags on discount. If not, I will just purchase one for regular price.

Hi, ho, hi, ho, off to the thrift store I go!

J Crew leather bag, $238
J Crew j crew bag, $148
