Gray Matter: Back to School

Gray Matter

Long sleeve dress, $320 / Denim shirt / Studded loafer / Alexander Wang leather backpack / Gold jewelry / Burberry fragrance / Kiehl's nivea lip care

Kumusta (Hello), Plummies! I know many think otherwise, but for me, comfort is the most crucial aspect of any outfit. If it ain't comfy, it ain't worth it!

For many of you, late August means BACK TO SCHOOL time! Here in San Diego, we are hanging on to our Summer time weather, which makes going back to school/ or into work difficult because, let's face it, the beach and hiking trails seem much more appealing.

Above is my rendition of a typical outfit I would have worn to school. The shirt dress is versitile because for work, I would just swap out the chambray shirt for a polished blazer and I am good to go. Simple, easy, comfortable.  Xo

Produce Subscription?

Happy Friday, Plummies!

For about 6 months now, Karl and I have been subscribed to a program (CSA) that delivers organic produce baskets to a drop-off sight near our home. Basically, we pay $40 every 2 weeks to get a Be Wise Ranch basket filled with an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables, which we pick up at a neighbor's front porch. The program is wonderful because it allows us to not only eat more fruits and veggies, but since we never know what we are going to receive, it allows us to be exposed to an array of different types of produce that we may not have otherwise thought to try. The CSA program also supports local small business farms :) Power to the small businesses!

Where do you get your groceries?

Happy Wednesday, Plummies! Lately I've been in major wedding-mode! It's actually tons of fun, and I can just imagine how rewarding and exciting it is for wedding planners to do this stuff day in and day out. By the way, I just met with my future wedding planner. Her name is Cynthia, she is located here in San Diego, and I can already tell she will be amazing to work with.
*Tip: when meeting with a potential wedding coordinator, make sure your style and personalities click during your initial consultation appointment.

Today's topic: Wedding Tables! I have been scouring the internet for reception table idea for a few weeks now, and I have found myself drawn to long tables instead of the traditional round ones. I like the modern vibe it creates, and yet it almost feels as though you are sitting down at a traditional family dinner in someone's home.

I love the idea of placing a long fabric or lace runner down the center of a rustic wooden table, and setting simple floral arrangements on top. We will have an outdoor garden reception, so I am thinking that keeping the tables natural, organic, and simple would be best.

Here is a list of a few San Diego party rental companies that I have found to have the best prices.

Happy planning to all of you who are planning a wedding or event!

Professional Lady

Hello Plummies! As many of you know, I am a therapist intern. Today is very special because, today is the day that I launch my very own Marriage & Family Therapy website/ blog

I spent a great deal of time and effort putting this bad boy together, and there are still a few kinks I need to tend to (getting a more "professional" head shot would be one thing). I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the site.

Lady in Plum has been such a great learning experience for me in terms of pushing myself to embrace and understand social media and technology. While continuing this lifestyle blog, I will also be expanding on my professional blog (sdrelationalwellness.com).

I have so many great ideas for both sites, and I want to THANK YOU all for the support you have shown me over the last 9 months.

Please feel free to share sdrelationalwellness.com with anyone you think might benefit from it. There are great resources and links on there. (For non-San Diego residents, I am in the process of figuring out the legal and ethical nature of Skype therapy sessions. Contact me for more info.)

Have a Plummy Day! Xoxo

Let's be BRIEF!

Let's be Brief!

J.Crew leather handbag / John Lewis leather wallet, $86 / Tech accessory / Retro hat, $9.84 / Face makeup, $11 / Gee Beauty red lipstick, $28 / Asos Quilted Stud Laptop Case

C'mon Plummies, we all know how much we love a great purse, right? But how 'bout us working gals who need something a bit more practical? Sometimes a dainty or fancy purse just aint gonna cut it. I need utility! So, it makes sense to reach for a...briefcase. You know, those classic things that your dad use to bring to his 9-5? Yup, a briefcase! It fits a laptop, a book, notepad, and all the other essentials that you need to be fabulously productive throughout your money makin' day. So go on, grab one.
(Even better if your briefcase has a shoulder strap for comfort.)

Happy Morning, Plummies! I think San Diego's amazingly warm weather has got me thinking of cool, minty everything! Don't ya think mint tones are rather fabulous? I mean, they are relaxing to look at, and fun to wear (I think minty tones make almost everyone look bronzed and tan).

If I didn't rent my condo, I would paint my entire living room a light, airy gray, and accent it with greens and mints. Ahhhh, to come home to that would be IT! Until then, I can day dream in color....

Have a cool day ya'll!
